Hyderabad, Hyderabad City Police Commissioner M Mahendar Reddy today confirmed that Youth Congress leader and former minister M Mukesh Goud’s son Vikram Goud had stage-managed the firing incident upon himself at his Film Nagar residence on Friday morning to gain public sympathy and to bring pressure on his creditors. “The shooting incident was a conspiracy hatched by Vikram Goud himself and for which he struck a Rs 50-lakh deal with a gang of hired shooters”, he added.
Talking to media persons at his office on Wednesday, the City Police Commissioner said while five persons were already arrested in connection with the incident, Goud would be arrested soon after his discharge from the hospital. Cops picked up four persons and even recovered the pistol used in commission of the crime from Sheikhpet tank.
Three of the accused confessed that while they took positions outside the house when the firing occurred, their handler was inside the house. The cops launched a manhunt to nab the principal accused who reportedly fled to Karnataka from Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh. As he was earlier involved in movies, Vikram scripted the shooting drama and arranged the real shooters to enact it. The gunmen, arranged by his friend Nandu, conducted a recce three days before the incident. Once they were ready for the action, Vikram threw them a party where he cautioned them not to kill him but only injure him.
As pre-planned, the shooters reached Vikram’s house at 3 am and two of them entered inside. One of them shot a round at Vikram as he sat on a sofa. Then Vikram insisted on a second round which the shooters finished and fled the place. They threw the gun in Shaikpet Lake. All this he did only to save himself from the pressure from his creditors and also get sympathy of his father, who distanced himself from the son after his failure in businesses. He is reportedly indebted to the tune of Rs 50 crore. He incurred losses in a pub in Madhapur and a mining business.
Viram Goud, who suffered bullet injuries is recuperating in Apollo hospital and he will be produced before the court in due course, the Police Commissioner said.
