VHP, Bajrang Dal Protest Bangladesh Lynching Near High Commission in Delhi

New Delhi, Dec 23(PMI) Hundreds of supporters of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bsion in Delhiajrang Dal staged a protest near the heavily fortified Bangladesh High Commission on Tuesday, condemning the alleged lynching of a Hindu man in Bangladesh. The demonstration turned tense as protesters broke through barricades and clashed with police.

Holding saffron flags and raising slogans against the Bangladesh government, the protesters attempted to march towards the high commission, forcing police to intervene. Despite a massive security deployment, several barricades were pushed down before police managed to stop the crowd about 800 metres away from the diplomatic premises.

The high-security area had been placed under tight surveillance with three layers of barricades and a heavy presence of police and paramilitary forces. According to officials, around 15,000 police personnel were deployed in anticipation of the protest. Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses were also positioned to block access routes to the high commission.

Placards and banners denouncing the Bangladesh government were prominently displayed, including one that read, “Hindu rakt ki ek ek boond ka hisaab chahiye” (Each drop of Hindu blood must be accounted for).

The protest was triggered by the killing of 25-year-old Dipu Chandra Das, a garment factory worker, who was lynched on December 18 in Baluka, Mymensingh district of Bangladesh, allegedly over blasphemy. According to police reports, Das was beaten by a mob, hanged from a tree, and his body was later set on fire along the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway.

“We demand strict action from our government and the Bangladesh authorities against those responsible for this brutal killing,” said one protester. Another demonstrator said that Hindus across the world should be treated with dignity and equality.

Police maintained that the situation was brought under control and no major injuries were reported.(pressmediaofindia.com)
