Hyderabad, Oct. 25 (PMI): Former MP and senior Congress leader V. Hanumantha Rao has urged all political parties to come together in support of implementing Backward Classes (BC) reservations in Telangana.
Addressing the media at Gandhi Bhavan on Saturday, Hanumantha Rao said that this is the right time for Parliament to pass the BC Reservation Bill, noting that leaders such as Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy are in favour of the move. Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who hails from the BC community, should extend his support, as this will benefit everyone, he remarked. The Congress veteran recalled that during Rahul Gandhi’s *padayatra*, he had demonstrated strong commitment to championing the cause of Backward Classes. Since assuming office, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has also been taking active steps toward implementing various BC reservation measures, he said.
Hanumantha Rao added that the BC reservation case is currently pending before the court and called for the introduction of a Telangana BC Bill in Parliament, urging that it be included in the Ninth Schedule of the Constitution. He appealed to BJP leaders and MPs to press the Prime Minister to ensure the implementation of BC reservations. (PMI).
