Hyderabad’Nov 24 (PMINEWS) Residents across Telangana are feeling the pinch as vegetable prices surge, with markets seeing sharp increases over the past few days. Retailers report that commonly used vegetables are now priced between ₹80 and ₹120 per kilogram, putting added pressure on household budgets.
Ridge gourd has climbed to ₹90 per kg, while bottle gourd—typically an affordable option—has nearly doubled to ₹160 per kg. Other kitchen staples, including brinjal, okra, capsicum, carrots, tomatoes, and green chillies, have also become costlier, leaving consumers with fewer budget-friendly choices.
Market vendors attribute the hike to reduced arrivals, weather-related disruptions, and lower production over recent weeks. They expect these elevated prices to persist for at least the next two weeks, as fresh stocks are yet to reach wholesale markets.
Agriculture analysts point out that erratic rainfall and transport delays have further strained supply chains. Until the flow of produce stabilizes, experts warn that the upward trend in vegetable prices is likely to continue across the state.(pressmediaofindia.com)
