Hyderabad’May 29(PMI) Excitement is building in Hyderabad as speculation mounts about the introduction of a Vande Bharat Sleeper train service connecting Secunderabad and New Delhi. While South Central Railway (SCR) has yet to issue an official confirmation, social media is abuzz with the prospect of this high-speed, long-distance sleeper train redefining overnight travel between the two major cities.
The immense popularity of the existing Vande Bharat Express trains has paved the way for strong demand for a sleeper version. Commuters are eagerly awaiting a service that promises a more comfortable, faster, and redefined travel experience for long-distance journeys.
If launched, the Vande Bharat Sleeper is expected to significantly cut down travel time compared to current popular services like the Rajdhani and Duronto Express trains. These services currently take between 22 to 24 hours to cover the 1,700-km distance between Secunderabad and the national capital. The high-speed sleeper version of the Vande Bharat Express is projected to reduce this journey by at least 3 to 4 hours, making overnight travel much more efficient.
The potential launch of the Vande Bharat Sleeper on this route is particularly good news for the large number of Hyderabad-based passengers who frequently travel to Delhi for work, education, or personal reasons. For many, the current journey consumes an entire day.
Railway enthusiasts have long been advocating for Vande Bharat Express sleeper variants, specifically for long-distance overnight travel.
Unlike the current Vande Bharat Express trains, which are configured for day travel with reclining seats, the sleeper version will feature comfortable berths, modern interiors, enhanced suspension systems for a smoother ride, and upgraded safety mechanisms.
