Hyderabad, June 23 (Shoukat-PMI): Union Minister Kishan Reddy today participated in the Balidan Diwas program on the death anniversary of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee in Krishnanagar of Jubilee Hills constituency.
Addressing a gathering, he said under the auspices of the BJP, they had been celebrating the Balidan Diwas of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee for the past many years. “In 1951, Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee founded the Bharatiya Jana Sangh. After independence, the then Prime Minister Nehru mortgaged the future of the country for temporary benefits in the matter of Article 370. He handed over a part of Kashmir to Pakistan. Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, who served as a minister in the first Union Cabinet, resigned from the Nehru Cabinet and founded the Bharatiya Jana Sangh. A movement was started to protect against Article 370.
While the entire country had a tricolour flag, Kashmir had a different flag. While the entire country had one Prime Minister, Kashmir had another Prime Minister. While Ambedkar’s Constitution was implemented throughout the country, Jammu and Kashmir had special rights through Article 370,” he said. Reddy said that when Shyama Prasad Mukherjee said that the country was damaged by the selfish decisions of the then Prime Minister Nehru, Nehru ignored his words and added that Shyama Prasad Mukherjee was the first person to launch a movement to abolish Article 370 and make Jammu and Kashmir an integral part of India. “Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee questioned If Jammu and Kashmir was an integral part of India, then how can there be a separate Prime Minister, special rights, and special powers?
He entered Jammu and Kashmir by strongly opposing the visa and permit system. He was accompanied by Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee urged Vajpayee to sensitize the people of the country and inform them about the inequalities taking place in Kashmir. However, as soon as he entered Jammu and Kashmir, he was arrested on the grounds of not having a permit. Later, he died under suspicious circumstances in Jammu and Kashmir. Allegations that this incident was a murder still persist. With the determination to protect the integrity of the country, Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee took the initiative to fully implement that idea and sacrificed himself. Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee’s goal was fulfilled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2019. With the abrogation of Article 370, Dalits and women in Jammu and Kashmir were given equal rights like those in other parts of the country. While Article 370 was in force, 42 thousand soldiers and civilians lost their lives in Jammu and Kashmir. At that time, the Congress party ignored them. The poor cheated the weaker sections. The governments and some leaders there acted in favour of Pakistan’s ISI,” he said.
He reminded that the BJP national president, Murli Manohar Joshi, organized an Ekta Yatra from Kanyakumari to Kashmir to hoist the national flag at Lal Chowk and added that PM Narendra Modi acted as the convener of the Yatra. He said that after the Modi government came to power, the situation changed completely and added that the national flag was officially hoisted at Lal Chowk after the abrogation of Article 370.
He alleged that after independence, the Congress party tried to divide the country in the name of caste, religion and language for vote bank politics and added that It neglected Hindus and played vote bank politics to appease people of other religions. He claimed that the Modi government suppressed terrorist activities and ruled with the idea that the integrity of the country was more important than the party.
“The BJP does not care about the party alone, and the integrity of the country is most important to it. The BJP has always worked in the forefront when the country was in difficult situations. When Indira Gandhi imposed the Emergency, she took away the freedom of the press, murdered democracy, and overturned the verdicts of the courts to maintain her position. She misused the Constitution, imprisoned lakhs of people, violated civil rights, and turned the entire country into a prison. At that time, the Jan Sangh was reluctantly merged into the Janata Party for the sake of the country, civil rights, and the protection of press rights. Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee gave us such distinguished leadership, patriotism, and a great ideology,” he said, adding 14 crore people were members of the BJP and they were moving forward on the path shown by Mukherjee under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi.
