Two Idol Lifters Nabbed In City

Hyderabad,  In a joint operation, the sleuths of Commissioner’s Task Force and Kama Reddy Town police nabbed two inter-State criminals identified as Hyder and Shaik Aziz, who lifted antique panchaloha idols of Lord Venugopalaswamy, goddess Rukmini and goddess Sathyabama.

            Police said Shaik Hyder and Shaik Aziz, natives of Katti Tugav village under Dhanura police limits of Bidar District of Karnataka formed into a gang and travel by bus or taxi and move in the rural areas abutting towns and conduct reconnaisance of the local area temples wherein antique Panchaloha idols are available with an intention to lift them. They break open lock of temple door or grill by usingiron rods and commit theft of the idols while their associates wait outside the temple to keep a watch. They flee with the stolen property and sell the same to smugglers.

Acting on a tip-off, the sleuths arrested Shaik Hyder and Shaik Aziz today while they were trying to dispose off the idols at Afzalgunj and seized the three idols.
