Two Drug Peddlers Arrested in Hyderabad, MDMA Worth Rs 1.77 Lakh Seized

Hyderabad, October 22, (Shoukat-PMI) In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking in the city, the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (HNEW), in coordination with the Tolichowki Police, arrested two individuals involved in the illegal trade of narcotic substances. The joint operation, carried out on October 19, led to the seizure of 11 grams of MDMA, two mobile phones, and a two-wheeler, all valued at approximately Rs. 1.77 lakh.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Mohd. Imran, also known as Shukoor, Sahil, or Immu, aged 31, a car driver residing in Bandlaguda Jagir, and Shaik Baseer Ahmed, alias Sameer, aged 32, a resident of Humayun Nagar. While Imran is the main peddler, Baseer acted as a sub-peddler assisting in distribution within the city.

Repeat Offenders with a History of Drug Involvement

According to police, Mohd. Imran is a habitual offender with a history of drug abuse and trafficking. Despite undergoing rehabilitation and facing multiple arrests under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, he continued peddling drugs after being released from jail in March 2025. Imran allegedly sourced MDMA from a supplier based in Bengaluru, transported it to Hyderabad by road, and sold it for profit.

His associate, Shaik Baseer Ahmed, previously worked in Dubai and returned to Hyderabad in 2016. Without a steady source of income and driven by a desire for a lavish lifestyle, he partnered with Imran to distribute MDMA within the city. Baseer was also previously booked in an NDPS case by Punjagutta Police for drug consumption.

How They Operated

Imran procured MDMA in bulk from an absconding supplier in Bengaluru and brought it to Hyderabad. He then handed over smaller quantities to Baseer, who delivered the drugs to local customers and collected payments. The duo shared the profits from their illegal business.

Case Registered

A case has been registered under Cr. No. 193/2025 at Tolichowki Police Station under Sections 8(c) read with 22(c), 27, and 29 of the NDPS Act, 1985. Further investigation is ongoing, and efforts are being made to trace the interstate supplier.

Police Appeal for Vigilance

Hyderabad City Police have reiterated their commitment to eradicating the drug menace from the city. In a public appeal, the HNEW has urged citizens to report any suspicious drug-related activity. Parents are especially advised to keep a close watch on their children’s behavior and peer circles.

The public can confidentially share information about drug trafficking or abuse by contacting the HNEW helpline at 8712661601.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of Sri Y.V.S. Sudheendra, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Task Force/HNEW, with the assistance of Inspector S. Bala Swamy, SI B. Manoj Kumar, SHO L. Ramesh Naik, SI M. Satish Kumar, and their respective teams.(pressmediaofindia.com)
