Two arrested for Medchal Jewellery shop heist

.Hyderabd’22 June The Medchal Police have successfully apprehended the offenders involved in the recent robbery at a jewellery shop in Medchal. The incident, which occurred on June 20, involved robbers disguised in burqas who targeted the Jagadamba Jewelry Shop. As many as 16 police teams were formed to investigate the case. These teams meticulously scrutinised 161 CCTV footage near the crime scene, which led to the identification and apprehension of the suspects.

The accused have been identified as Nazim Aziz Kotadia (36), a businessman, and Shaik Sohail (23), involved in the scrap business. Kotadia, who faced multiple business losses, resorted to crime to make quick money. He and Sohail, along with their accomplice Salman, planned and executed the robbery. They stole a Pulsar 150 DTS bike on June 17 and used it for the heist. On the day of the robbery, Kotadia and Sohail arrived in an Ashok Leyland trolley. Disguised in a burqa, they conducted several recces of the jewellery shop before executing their plan. At around 1:40 PM, they entered the shop, threatened the owner, and stabbed him. However, the owner’s son intervened, causing the robbers to flee. They abandoned the bike and escaped in an auto.

The police arrested Nazim Aziz Kotadia and Shaik Sohail on Saturday near Nampally railway station. The seized property includes a Pulsar 150 DTS bike, a black burqa, hand gloves, a bag, and two mobile phones. The investigation was conducted under the supervision of DCP Medchal Zone N Kotireddy, DCP SOT Srinivas, and DCP CCS K. Narasimha. Teams from PS Medchal & Dundigal, CCS Medchal & Balanagar, and SOT Medchal & Balanagar played key roles in the operation.

The police commend the efforts of these teams and promise suitable rewards for their work. They also urge the public to support efforts to eradicate property offences by sharing any information with authorities. Shopkeepers have been advised to install high-resolution CCTV cameras inside and outside their premises, deploy security guards, and install buzzer systems for immediate alerts.
