Ghaziabad, March 6 (Agencies): Police in the city of Ghaziabad in the state of Uttar Pradesh have killed two accused in separate encounters within three days for allegedly carrying out a murderous attack on YouTuber Saleem Wastik.
According to police, the accused were identified as Gulfam and Zeeshan, who were reportedly brothers. Both had a bounty of ₹1 lakh each announced on them.
Police sources said the elder brother, Gulfam, was killed in a police encounter on Tuesday, while his younger brother Zeeshan had already been shot dead by police in a separate operation on Sunday. They were accused of carrying out a life-threatening attack on YouTuber Saleem Wastik, who posts videos on social media claiming to be a former Muslim.
Additional DCP (Crime) Piyush Singh stated that police acted on information about Gulfam and one of his associates being present in the Indirapuram Police Station area. When the police team attempted to arrest him, he allegedly opened fire on the officers.
Police retaliated in self-defence, during which Gulfam was seriously injured and later died. Authorities said both accused had been on the run for several days, and a reward had been announced for their arrest.
Following the incident, security in the area has been tightened while police continue further investigation into the case.
