Trump leaves G7 summit early warning Tehran to evacuate

18-06-2025

KANANASKIS: President Donald Trump left early from the Group of Seven summit in Canada, to attend to the conflict between Israel and Iran, the White House announced. Spokespeople from the Pentagon and the White House denied that the US military is getting involved. Before his departure, Trump wrote on Truth Social that Iran should have signed a nuclear deal and that Iran “cannot have a nuclear weapon.” “I said it over and over again! Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!” Trump wrote. After four days of missile attacks between the two countries, at least 224 people have been killed in Iran, Health Ministry spokesman Hossein Kermanpour said. The Israeli prime minister’s office reported 24 deaths in total.

US Embassy in Jerusalem tells staff to shelter in place

The US Embassy in Jerusalem will be closed on Tuesday and all US government employees and family members have been directed to shelter in place until further notice, a Monday alert said, citing the security situation in the region.

Consular sections in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv will also be closed, the embassy said, adding that it is “not in a position at this time to evacuate or directly assist Americans in departing Israel.” Ben Gurion Airport and Israeli seaports are also closed, it added.

Trump signs G-7 statement on Iran-Israel conflict

President Donald Trump on Monday joined other leaders from the Group of Seven in signing a statement on the escalating conflict in the Middle East that reiterates support for Israel and criticizes Iran.

Pentagon expands Middle East response

The Pentagon is expanding its military presence in the Middle East and Europe in response to worsening hostilities between Israel and Iran, US officials said Monday, sending refueling planes and an additional aircraft carrier among the resources dispatched.

Massive lines of traffic are filling one of Tehran’s busiest routes, the Karaj-Chalus road, as people rush to flee the Iranian capital before any possible escalation in the conflict.

Several lawmakers on Monday said they were taking steps to limit US involvement in the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran and put checks on the president’s power.

‘Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran’: Trump

President Donald Trump on Monday evening wrote on Truth Social that Iran should have signed a nuclear deal and warned that people should “immediately evacuate Tehran.” Iran should have signed the ‘deal’ I told them to sign. What a shame and waste of human life. Simply stated, Iran can’t have a nuclear weapon. I said it over and over again! Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran, the president wrote.

Iran launched a new wave of missiles toward Israel late Monday night in an attack that includes missiles and drones, Iranian state media reported.

The Israel Defense Forces after midnight said it had identified missiles from Iran. Sirens sounded across Israel, it said.

An Iranian missile strike killed three people Sunday night at an oil refinery in Haifa Bay, according to the Israel Defense Forces. All three were employees at the refinery, Bazan Group, the owner of the facility, confirmed in a statement.

The northern port city of Haifa is home to a major naval base and key infrastructure facilities, making it a strategic target for Iranian attacks. The refinery was shut down after Sunday’s strike, Bazan said Monday.

Both sides have targeted energy facilities in recent days. Earlier Sunday, Israel separately hit Iran’s main gas depot and one of the country’s largest oil refineries. (Int’l Monitoring Desk)
