Hyderabad, TRS MPs today created a pandemonium in parliament, on the first day of Union Budget session, by staging protests demanding powers to States for reservations. They tried to disrupt the proceedings of the House by demanding that the Centre delegate powers to the States on reservations.
The TRS Parliamentary Party submitted a resolution to Lok Sabha Speaker Sumithra Mahajan urging her to take up a debate on the crucial issue of reservations. As usual, the Speaker said “No” on the issue which prompted the TRS members to stage protest and stormed into the well of the House during budget session on the first day.
Parliament, customarily, offered condolences to the MPs, who recently died, in the morning and the Speaker took up the question hour. As the MPs did not withdraw protests, the Speaker adjourned the House to 12 noon followed by the protests by the TRS members. The Speaker did not give in for a brief debate on the TRS demand for powers to the States to provide reservations.
Meanwhile, TRS leader in Lok Sabha Jithender Reddy said they will rake up the issue of reservations in Parliament during the entire budget session. He told media persons in Delhi that the TRS MPs have decided to question the government on various issues, including reservations and that of bifurcation promises. He also demanded that the Centre delegate powers to the States to decide the need-based reservations. The Centre was enacting “dramas” on implementation of provisions of the AP Reorganization Act, he charged.
