Hyderabad, Oct.21 (PMI): Transport Minister, P Ajay Kumar today directed the officials concerned to run 100 percent buses in the state. After a review meeting on RTC strike and its effect, the minister said that since schools and colleges are started on Monday the officials should take measures to operate all buses.
Since the RTC strike is on for 17 days, officials have to be careful to see that no inconvenience is caused to people due to lack of bus services, the minister said. Increase number of buses immediately and ensure smooth drive for students, people and others by coordinating with police department, he said. Though the schools and colleges were to reopen by October 14, due to strike by RTC employees we have extended holidays till 19 to avoid inconvenience, the minister said.
The minister asked the depot managers to workout a plan to increase bus services.
The RTC has informed that it had run 6457 buses on Sunday including government and private. The RTC management has pressed in 5502 drivers and 6437 conductors on temporary basis as part of alternative arrangements.
