Hyderabad, April 23: TPCC Legal Cell Chairman C Damodar Reddy filed a complaint against Republic TV Editor Arnab Goswami for making defamatory and derogatory comments against the party’s National president Sonia Gandhi. The complaint was filed with Nallakunta Police of the City.
In his complaint he urged the police to take action against Mr. Goswami, who is the Anchor and Founder of Republic TV and Republic Bharat TV Channel and others, under the relevant provisions including Sections 120B, 124A, 153A, 153B, 186, 295A, 504, 505, 506, 509 Indian Penal Code for sedition, inciting religious groups with the intent to provoke animosity, ill will, breach peace, public order and brought hatred against a State Government established by law, and a Member of Parliament. Reddy filed the complaint following an advice by TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy.
In his complaint, he said that the statements made by Goswami in his TV show cast serious aspersions on the State Government of Maharashtra and its duly sworn in Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray of favoring one religious’ group over the other. He also said that Arnab Goswami had also made wild and baseless allegations against an elected Member of Parliament from Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh and the President of the Indian National Congress and a senior citizen lady. He also said that Goswami by his words and acts on the show had maligned and caused serious perils to public order and harmony of the State of Maharashtra and India by promoting ill will and attempting to incite hatred amongst different religions.
He alleged that Goswami was attempting to bring dissatisfaction against the State Government of Maharashtra and also its Chief Minister, and also against the Indian National Congress Party and its President Sonia Gandhi.
