Hyderabad;Dec 14 (PMI) A tourist from Delhi, along with two of his friends from Hyderabad, was cheated of ₹12,000 after booking tickets to the Salar Jung Museum through a fraudulent website. The trio later received relief when the Telangana Tourism Police successfully recovered the amount.
According to the victim, the group became suspicious when the website charged ₹4,000 per person for museum tickets. However, by the time they realised it was a scam, the money had already been debited from their bank accounts. The website had also promised the services of a tour guide, but no one turned up when they reached the museum, confirming their fears.
The tourists then approached the museum reception, where the Telangana Tourism Police assured them of assistance. Although they purchased fresh tickets and continued their visit without expecting a refund, they were later contacted by police officials and informed that the cheated amount had been recovered.
In a video shared by Telangana Director General of Police B. Shivadhar Reddy, the victim expressed gratitude, saying the incident restored his faith in the police. Praising the officers’ efforts, the DGP said the recovery reflected the professionalism, restraint and humane conduct of the Telangana Police, reinforcing public trust in law enforcement.(pressmediaofindia.cpm)
