Toronto Police Arrest Indian-Origin Man on Canada’s Most Wanted List

Toronto, Nov 24: Canadian police announced on Saturday the arrest of 24-year-old Nicholas Singh, who had been listed among the country’s 25 most wanted fugitives. According to a statement from Toronto Police, Singh was sought on a Canada-wide warrant for breach of parole by the Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) Squad and featured on the Bolo (Be On The Lookout) Program’s 25 Most Wanted list.

Singh was taken into custody in Toronto at around 11:20 p.m. on Friday after officers spotted him inside a vehicle. Police said they also recovered a firearm, an extended magazine, and ammunition during the arrest.

The Bolo Program noted that Singh was wanted for being unlawfully at large. He had been serving a sentence of five years, five months, and ten days for robbery and firearm-related offences before he fled supervision on May 31, 2024. Following his arrest, Singh now faces six additional firearm-related charges.

The Bolo Program aims to leverage communication technologies and public outreach to help police track Canada’s most wanted fugitives by encouraging citizens to be vigilant.

The current list includes two other Indian-origin suspects.
Gurkirat Singh, 26, is wanted by Delta Police in connection with an alleged sexual assault on a child on September 12, 2024. A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for sexual assault, invitation to sexual touching, and sexual interference involving a minor under 16. He is described as 6 feet tall, approximately 140 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes, though police note he may have altered his appearance.

Also listed is Dharam Singh Dhaliwal, wanted for the murder of 21-year-old Pawanpreet Kaur in December 2022. Kaur, a Brampton resident, was fatally shot multiple times at a Petro-Canada gas station on December 3, 2022. In April last year, Peel Regional Police’s Homicide Bureau issued a warrant for Dhaliwal, then 31, on a charge of first-degree murder, stating that he had “intentionally gone missing” in September 2022 as part of a plan to carry out the killing.

Dhaliwal is described as 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing 170 pounds, with a tattoo on his left hand. Police warn that he should be considered armed and dangerous and urge the public not to approach him.

Two of his family members—25-year-old Pritpal Dhaliwal and 50-year-old Amarjit Dhaliwal—were arrested in Moncton, New Brunswick, on April 18, 2023, and charged as accessories to murder after the fact. The Bolo Program cautioned that anyone aiding Dhaliwal in avoiding arrest may face similar charges.

Meanwhile, gangster Satinderjeet Singh, widely known as Goldy Brar and previously on the list, does not appear on the latest Bolo update, though he remains at large. Brar is wanted in connection with the May 2022 killing of entertainer and politician Sidhu Moose Wala.
