Hyderabad : Telangana Information Technology Association (TITA) in association with ‘360 Learnings’ and Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad (JNTUH) has launched a drug awareness e-learning program on Saturday in Somajiguda Press Club.
The program is intended to educate youth and students about the ill effects of drugs on health and on the entire career in the long run. Students studying in JNTUH and all its affiliated colleges will enroll in this e-learning program.
The program is comprises of few informative videos, presentations and reports. TITA global president Sundeep Kumar Makthala expressed his sorrow that few students were also found to be using drugs and said it was a dangerous sign for the educational institutions.
He said that it was the precursor to have this e-learning platform (program) so that students must be aware of the impact of drugs and to keep them away from falling prey to this addiction. He appealed the students to enroll to this e-learning platform which is absolutely free and optional.
He said that accusing all IT employees of being drug addicts, as portrayed by few media organizations, was not right and clarified that there was 4.25 lakh IT work force in Hyderabad and if few were found to using drugs it cannot be implied upon all.
“We cannot label all the IT employees for only 20 people who were found to be drug addicts” he said. Hyderabad city is much safer than other metro cities in the country, he added.
JNTUH-UIIC director Dr. Ch. Venkata Ramana Reddy said that TITA and 360 Learnings have come up with this idea of e-learning for educating the students. He said that it was an appreciating move and a good opportunity for students to learn from anywhere on the web.
He said, “We will ask our students to enroll for this e-learning program to be well-informed and to be safe from the dangerous addiction.”
360 Learnings Ajase CEO Hussain said that it was the first e-learning project initiated for the social cause. He vowed that his group would come up with more such social platforms in the future.
