Hyderabad, Sept 3(Ali Abbas-PMI) In a joint operation, the Chatrinaka police and the South Zone Task Force arrested three persons for illegally procuring and selling liquor worth around ₹50,000. The police seized nearly 195 bottles, equivalent to 70 litres of liquor of different brands, during the raid.
The prime accused has been identified as Shobha Rani (50), a habitual offender with a long history of excise violations. Police revealed that Rani had previously been booked in 33 different cases for similar offences. She allegedly purchased liquor in bulk from nearby wine shops and sold it illegally from her residence in Chatrinaka.
Her accomplices, Deepak Kumar (26) and Nitish Kumar (21), assisted her in transporting the liquor to customers. Using motorcycles, the duo carried consignments of liquor to various buyers, helping Rani run the illegal business.
According to the police, the illicit activity not only violated excise regulations but also encouraged black marketing, creating scope for public nuisance in residential areas. Acting on credible information, the task force kept surveillance before conducting the raid and apprehending the accused.
All three have been booked under relevant sections of the Telangana State Excise Act. They were handed over to the Chatrinaka police station for further legal action. Officials said investigations are underway to determine whether others are linked to the supply network and to curb the menace of illegal liquor trade in the area.(pressmediaofindia.com)
