Telangana’s first GBS death

Hyderabad’Feb 9 (PMI) Telangana has reported its first death due to Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS). A 25-year-old married woman from Seetarampalli village in Siddipet district succumbed to the disease. She was admitted to the hospital a month ago after suffering from nerve pain and was diagnosed with GBS by doctors.

Despite initial treatment at a local hospital, the symptoms worsened. As her condition worsened, her family members shifted her to NIMS Hospital in Hyderabad. Despite continued treatment there, she was shifted to a private hospital as there were no better results. Despite spending huge amounts on medical treatment, her health did not improve

She died yesterday after being treated for months. This is the first death due to GBS in the state. This disease affects the nervous system and leads to paralysis, nerve damage and serious illnesses. People suffering from diabetes and other illnesses are at higher risk of contracting it.

Medical experts suggest that there is a need to raise awareness among the public about GBS. It is said that people should seek immediate medical attention for the initial onset of nerve pain, numbness in the hands and feet. Health officials are suggesting that precautions should be taken to prevent such deaths from recurring in Telangana. Experts suggest that people should increase awareness about this disease and seek medical advice immediately if even minor symptoms appear.(PMI)
