Telangana Police Ranks First in the Country — Responsibility to Uphold This Status Lies With You: DGP B. Shivadhar Reddy

Hyderabad, Nov 6(Najaf Ali Shoukat-PMI) Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) B. Shivadhar Reddy, IPS, said that the Telangana Police stands first in the country and it is the responsibility of the new probationary Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) to uphold that reputation.

The DGP addressed the gathering as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of the Probationary DSPs’ training programme held at the RBVRR Telangana State Police Academy on Thursday. Police Academy Director Abhilasha Bisht, TGSB Director Shikha Goel, EAGLE Director Sandeep Shandilya, Additional DGP Mahesh M. Bhagwat, Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar, Rachakonda Commissioner Sudheer Babu, and Cyberabad Commissioner Avinash Mahanti were among those present.

Speaking on the occasion, the DGP said, “This is the largest-ever batch of 112 probationary DSPs joining the Telangana Police family, which has earned national recognition for its excellence.” He noted that the next ten months of training would lay the foundation for their leadership journey, shaping their discipline, punctuality, and professional outlook.

A police officer, he said, should not merely enforce the law but also understand its spirit. “Impartiality, patience, and empathy are the values that make an officer truly outstanding. The public sees you not just as officers, but as representatives of justice,” he emphasized.

He added that though training may be rigorous, every act of discipline carries a purpose. “Drill, exercise, and teamwork cultivate self-control. Discipline is not punishment — it is preparedness,” he explained.

Highlighting Telangana Police’s modern policing model, he said the force has become a role model for the nation through specialized wings like Greyhounds, Octopus, CI Cell, TGCSB, and EAGLE. “Initiatives like the Command Control Centre, SHE Teams, Bharosa Centres, and community policing reflect our efforts to stay connected with the public,” he added.

Expressing pride that 38 of the trainees are women officers, the DGP said that equality and respect should begin right here at the academy. “Leadership does not begin with authority — it begins with conduct, honesty, empathy, and positivity toward colleagues,” he remarked.

“The true power of a police officer doesn’t come from the stars on the uniform but from the trust in the eyes of the people,” he said, urging trainees to be symbols of security, dignity, justice, and professionalism.

Concluding his address, the DGP said, “Earn respect through duty, lead with integrity, and protect with compassion.”

Academy Director Abhilasha Bisht, in her remarks, said the training will continue for ten months, with the first phase spanning 42 weeks. The DGP also unveiled the training syllabus on this occasion.

Inspector Generals S. Chandrasekhar Reddy, M. Ramesh, and Ramesh Naidu, along with Deputy Directors N. Venkateswarlu, Muralidhar, and G. Kavitha, were present at the ceremony.(pressmediaofindia.com)
