MPTC & ZPTC in Two Phases, Gram Panchayat Polls in Three Phases from October 9
Hyderabad, Sept 30 (PMI): The Telangana State Election Commission has released the schedule for local body elections. State Election Commissioner Rani Kumudini announced that the elections will be held in five phases between October 9 and November 11. With the announcement of the schedule, the Model Code of Conduct has come into immediate effect in all districts except Hyderabad.
According to the Election Commissioner, elections for Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituencies (MPTCs) and Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituencies (ZPTCs) will be conducted in two phases, while Gram Panchayat elections will take place in three phases.
For the first phase, nominations will open on October 9, with polling scheduled for October 23. The final round of voting will conclude on November 8. Counting for Sarpanch and Ward Members will be taken up immediately after polling on the same day, whereas counting for MPTC and ZPTC seats will be held on November 11.
The State Election Commissioner informed that polling will be conducted for 5,749 MPTC seats, 565 ZPTC seats, 12,733 Gram Panchayats, and 1,12,288 Ward Member posts.
Unlike previous practice where Gram Panchayat elections were followed by MPTC and ZPTC polls, this time the Commission has decided to conduct the MPTC and ZPTC elections in the first two phases.

Gram Panchayat (Phase II): Nominations from October 21–23, scrutiny on October 24, withdrawals until October 27. Polling on November 4.
