Telangana Issues Notification for Three-Phase Local Body Elections be held on December 11, 14, 17

The Model Code of Conduct has formally come into force.

Hyderabad, Nov 25 (PMI NEWS_) The Telangana State Election Commission (TSEC) on Tuesday released the notification for the upcoming local body elections, which will be conducted next month in three phases.

Addressing the media, State Election Commissioner Rani Kumudini said that Telangana has a voter base of over 1.66 crore. She announced that polling for the three phases will be held on December 11, December 14, and December 17.

Nominations will be accepted from November 27 for the first phase, November 30 for the second phase, and December 3 for the third phase. The last dates for filing nominations are November 29, December 2, and December 5, respectively. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be conducted on November 30, December 3, and December 6.

Kumudini added that voting will take place from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by counting from 2 p.m. onwards. With the issuance of the notification, the Model Code of Conduct has come into effect across the state.

The SEC has earmarked 17.08% reservation for Backward Classes (BCs) in gram panchayats. Out of 12,735 gram panchayats, 2,176 have been reserved for BCs. Among the 31 districts going to polls, Siddipet recorded the highest BC reservation at 26.772%, while Bhadradri Kothagudem has no gram panchayats reserved for BCs.(pressmediaofindia,com)
