Hyderabad, Jan.10 (PMI): The Telangana IPS Officers’ Association on Saturday expressed unequivocal solidarity with the IAS Officers’ Association, strongly condemning what it described as an “irresponsible, malicious, and defamatory” media broadcast targeting serving women IAS officers.
In a strongly worded statement, the Association said the broadcast amounted to ‘character assassination’ under the guise of journalism, driven by sensationalism and devoid of factual basis. It termed the targeting of women officers through unverified claims and distorted narratives as regressive and misogynistic. “The allegations aired are false and constitute a serious violation of privacy, dignity and professional reputation. This amounts to impermissible trial by media”, the statement said, warning that such reporting erodes public trust, damages institutional morale, and undermines democratic governance.
The IPS officers association demanded an immediate and unconditional public apology, withdrawal of defamatory content from all platforms, and strict adherence to journalistic ethics by media houses. It also cautioned that any individual or organisation found disseminating baseless or fabricated material against serving officers would face strict civil and criminal legal action.
Emphasising that the dignity and safety of women officers is “non-negotiable,” the Association said it would respond firmly to any attempt to intimidate or demoralise officers through false narratives. (pressmediaofinfia.com)
