The case stems from a dispute between HYDRAA and A Sudhakar Reddy over the Bathukamma Kunta land.
.Hyderabad’N0v 27 (PMI NEEWS)The Telangana High Court has issued a stern warning to AV Ranganath, the Commissioner of the Hyderabad Disaster Management and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA), threatening to issue a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against him if he fails to appear in court for the Bathukamma Kunta contempt case.
The court expressed dissatisfaction over the agency’s non-compliance with its earlier orders in the case and instructed the commissioner to personally appear before the bench on December 5 to provide an explanation. A division bench consisting of Justice Moushumi Bhattacharya and Justice Gadi Praveen Kumar had earlier issued a contempt notice to Ranganath on October 30, directing him to attend the hearing scheduled for November 27.
The case revolves around a land dispute between HYDRAA and A Sudhakar Reddy. Earlier this year, the court had allowed HYDRAA to carry out limited pre-monsoon works to prevent flooding in surrounding colonies. However, the court had specifically ordered the agency not to disturb land that Reddy claimed as his own.
In October, Reddy filed a contempt petition accusing HYDRAA of encroaching on his land. He presented evidence, including photographs showing significant changes made to the land between June and October, as well as an inauguration plaque identifying HYDRAA as the developer of Bathukamma Kunta, alongside other private agencies.
The court took the allegations seriously and issued Form 1 under the Contempt of Courts Rules, which could lead to further legal consequences if the agency is found to have violated the court’s orders.
This case highlights not only the ongoing land dispute but also the legal challenges surrounding urban development projects in Hyderabad, with the court closely monitoring HYDRAA’s adherence to its directives.(prsssmediaofindiacom)
