Telangana CM calls for unity at government Dawat-e-Iftar in  L B Stadium, Hyderabad

Revanth Reddy said Ramadan was not merely a festival but a period of spiritual reflection and self-purification.

Hyderabad, March 15 (Shahewer Fatima -PMI)Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Sunday urged people of all communities to strengthen brotherhood and maintain communal harmony while working together for the development of the state and the country.

He was speaking at the Dawat-e-Iftar organised by the Telangana government at Lal Bahadur Stadium in Hyderabad. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that the holy month of Ramadan is not just a festival but a period of spiritual reflection, discipline, and self-purification.

Revanth Reddy expressed happiness over the government hosting the Iftar gathering for the Muslim community and said his administration was committed to the welfare and empowerment of minorities. Highlighting the steps taken by the government, he noted that former Indian cricket captain Mohammad Azharuddin had been inducted into the state cabinet, while senior Congress leader Mohammed Ali Shabbir was appointed as an advisor to the government. He also said that eight minority leaders had been given responsibilities in various government corporations.

The Chief Minister further stated that international cricketer Mohammed Siraj had been appointed as Deputy Superintendent of Police in recognition of his sporting achievements. In addition, world champion boxer Nikhat Zareen was honoured with a cash reward of Rs 2 crore by the state government.

Recalling the contribution of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, Revanth Reddy said that during his tenure, a 4 percent reservation for minorities was introduced, which helped many people secure employment opportunities.

The Chief Minister also cautioned against attempts by certain elements to create divisions among communities and stressed the need to preserve unity and harmony in society. Describing himself as a brother of the community, he sought the continued support of the people.

The Iftar gathering was attended by ministers, including Mohammad Azharuddin, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Ponnam Prabhakar. Government advisors Mohammed Ali Shabbir, Sudharshan Reddy, and Harkara Venugopal were also present, along with Members of Parliament Vem Narender Reddy and Asaduddin Owaisi, chairpersons of minority corporations, and a large number of members of the Muslim community.(pressmediaofindia.com)
