Hyderabad, Dec.27 (PMI): The division of Hyderabad High Court by the Union government has brought cheers on the faces of all advocates from the State. They celebrated the momentous occasion by distributing sweets in all the courts in the State. In High Court, the advocates have celebrated the event while recalling their struggle of the last four and half years to get the separate high court status.
Commenting on the issue, senior advocate and Telangana State Bar Council member Vishnuvardhan Reddy said their hard work to get the separate High Court bore fruit. He said the decision of the Centre would benefit some 20,000 advocates in the State. He said the separation of the high court would also benefit the existing judges of the State to get timely promotions besides helping the practising advocates to be elevated to the post of the judges. Noting that there would be some minor problems relating to transfer of cases due to the bifurcation of the High Court, he said they would extend all cooperation to their AP counterparts. He also said the separation of the high court would also lead to disposal of pending cases expeditiously.
Meanwhile, advocates from Andhra Pradesh staged a protest on the premises of the High Court against the decision of the Centre. They demanded immediate intervention of High Court registry in the issue as the advocates and employees of the High Court will have to shift to AP capital within a couple of days. (PMI)
