Telangana achieves tremendous progress in IT: KTR

Hyderabad, Jan.9 (PMI): Minister for IT and Industries KT Rama Rao said the Telangana has been achieving tremendous progress in the IT sector since the formation of the State and of the total IT employees in India, 20 percent employees belong to Telangana.

Addressing IT industry representatives here on Monday, Minister KT Rama Rao said Hyderabad had beaten Bengaluru in terms of creating employment and office space absorption as well.

Stating that Hyderabad is now the best destination for the investments, KTR said the Telangana had over created over 40,000 jobs in the IT sector during the last two years.

Through T Hub,  the State government has developed an innovation ecosystem which is yielding excellent results. Recently, a company, Skyroot, launched its rocket into the orbit successfully in its first attempt and has been incubated at T-HUB. Similarly, Dhruva company, had also launched nano satellites into the orbit successfully, he reminded.

Reading out the statistics released by  NASSCOM, the Minister said that over  4.50 lakh jobs were created in India in the IT sector last year. Of these, Hyderabad created 1.50 lakh jobs, beating Bengaluru, which created 1.46 lakh jobs.

Stating that efforts are being made to improve the infrastructure in the IT sector, he said that T-Fiber initiate to extend 100 MBPS connectivity to 10 million households would be completed this year and similarly, T-Works, the largest prototyping facility would be inaugurated in the first quarter.
