Tejas Fighter Jet Crashes During Demo Flight at Dubai Air Show

Dubai’Nov 21(PMI) An Indian-made HAL Tejas light combat aircraft crashed on Friday afternoon while performing a demonstration at the Dubai Air Show, prompting emergency response teams to rush to the scene. The incident occurred at approximately 2:10 p.m. local time at Al Maktoum International Airport, where the biennial aviation event is underway.

The aircraft was taking part in an aerial display when it went down, sending a plume of thick black smoke rising above the venue. Spectators reported hearing alarms and sirens moments after the crash, as fire and rescue crews moved in to secure the area.

It remains uncertain whether the pilot managed to eject before impact, and officials have not yet released information regarding possible injuries or casualties.

The HAL Tejas, manufactured by India’s state-run Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, is a multirole combat aircraft currently in service with the Indian Air Force. The jet’s presence at the show was part of India’s efforts to promote the aircraft for international export.

The Dubai Air Show, held at Dubai’s second airport, has attracted global attention this year with significant aircraft orders announced by major carriers such as Emirates and FlyDubai. The crash temporarily disrupted activities at the event, though organizers have not yet indicated whether the schedule will be further affected.

Authorities in Dubai are expected to launch an investigation into the cause of the crash. (pressmediaofindia.com)
