Gurugram(Haryana)April19(PMI): A technician employed at a private hospital in Gurugram has been arrested following allegations of sexual assault by a 46-year-old air hostess in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The victim, who had been admitted after a drowning incident, reported the alleged assault in a complaint filed on April 14, nearly a week after the incident.
According to Gurugram Police, an FIR was registered at the Sadar Police Station, and a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed to investigate the case. Deepak, a technician from Muzaffarpur, who had been working at the hospital for the past five months, was arrested in connection with the alleged assault.
DCP Arpit Jain confirmed the developments, stating, “On April 14, we received a complaint regarding sexual assault at a private hospital. A First Information Report (FIR) was registered, and a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted to probe the case.”
The survivor, who was in Gurugram for professional training, had been admitted to the hospital due to health complications following the drowning incident. The alleged assault occurred while she was on ventilator support in the ICU, where she was being treated.
Hospital Responds with Suspension of Accused Technician
In response to the incident, the hospital administration suspended the accused technician. In a statement, the hospital’s medical superintendent said, “We have been informed that the police have identified a suspect who has been taken into custody in connection with the ongoing investigation concerning allegations of sexual assault on a patient. On the basis of information provided to us by the police, at present, we have suspended the suspect employee.”
He added, “As we await the final outcome of the investigation, we will continue to provide full support to the police.”
