Hyderabad, Oct. 8 (Shoukat-PMI)): The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has decided not to contest the Jubilee Hills by-election. Party chief N. Chandrababu Naidu held a meeting with Telangana TDP leaders in Amaravati for nearly two hours before arriving at this decision.
Sources said the party leadership felt that its cadre was not adequately prepared for the contest and that participating in the election, while being part of the NDA alliance, could send wrong signals. Therefore, the TDP has opted to stay away from the by-election and not extend support to any party.
However, Chandrababu Naidu reportedly indicated that if the BJP officially seeks support, the TDP could consider backing it.
During the meeting, Naidu also discussed the appointment of the Telangana TDP president and the party’s organizational restructuring. He directed leaders to set up state committees soon and clarified that the state president’s post would be given to someone capable of handling responsibilities effectively.(pressmediaofindia, com)
