Hyderabad, Questioning the Centre how it will increase the revenue of agriculture, TPCC Kisan Cell chairman M Kodanda Reddy said the State and Central governments were “shedding crocodile” tears towards farmers because the Centre was contemplating simultaneous elections.
Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan here on Tuesday, Kodanda Reddy said the minimum support price fixed by the Centre was unscientific. He alleged that the Centre has changed the name of crop insurance scheme into Fasal Bheema. The brokerage system has increased in the NDA regime, he said, adding that the Centre imposed 18 percent GST on agriculture equipments. The price of fertilizers also shot up and no minimum support price was announced for the crops. He said the State government increased Rs 4,000 per acre scheme without addressing grievances of the farmers.
