Medchal’March’1-(PMI)The authorities are making a concerted effort to collect property taxes in municipalities and corporations. One hundred percent goal is moving forward. Seven municipalities and three corporations in Medchal Constituency have adopted various methods to achieve the target.

Authorities are stepping up efforts to collect property taxes in municipalities and corporations. One hundred percent goal is moving forward. Seven municipalities and three corporations in Medchal constituency are following various methods to achieve the target. The deadline for payment of taxes is still only 29 days and in some municipalities, not even 60 percent has been paid. Officials and staff have paid special attention to municipalities that are far from the target.
Special Measures
Officials are taking special measures to collect 100 percent of taxes. Bill collectors are taking the list of dues by wards and divisions and going door to door to collect. As the deadline is approaching, the focus is on tax collection even on Sundays and holidays. Office working hours have been changed from 7 am to 7 pm.
They are campaigning through microphones in some municipalities to pay taxes on time and contribute to development. Red notices are being issued in Boduppal Municipality for the collection of bad dues. Steps like removing the drainage connection and seizing the gate of the house are being taken. Every day a target is set for the bill collectors and a review is conducted in the evening.
Boduppal
has the highest collection of property taxes in the constituency. While there was a demand of Rs.22.48 crores, till now Rs.11.87 crores have been collected. It was recorded as 60.2 percent. The highest percentage of tax was collected in Tumkunta. In that municipality, Rs.8.99 crore was demanded while Rs.6.34 crore was collected.
Compulsory Tax Paying
As the financial year ends on 31st of this month, everyone has to pay mandatory taxes. Pay property taxes, trade license, advertisement taxes and contribute to development. Otherwise we will confiscate the properties as per the Municipal Act. We will take steps like deleting the null connection. We are making people aware. We are collecting return taxes from house to house with the aim of 100% collection.

We are taking forward the target of 100 percent tax collection in Jawaharnagar Corporation. We are spreading awareness in every colony of the corporation through Mixet. We have issued red notices to houses that have not paid tax. Going to the defaulters and explaining the need for payment. However, if the taxes are not paid, the house will be confiscated after the deadline. We are regularly reviewing the performance of bill collectors and alerting them.
