South Zone: Shalibanda police station 8th best in the country

Shalibanda PS of Hyderabad City has been declared as 8th best Police Station in the country in the the All India Conference of Director Generals of Police 2024 being held at Bhubaneswar and being attended by the Honble PM Narender Modi & HM Amit Shah.The ranking of police stations across the country is an annual exercise by the Ministry of Home Affairs. A police station’s performance is broadly evaluated on the basis of record based evaluation, survey based assessment and citizens’ feedback.

Nearly 40 parameters, including registering FIRs, filing chargesheets within sixty days in cases of crime against women, SC & ST Act, narcotics etc, convictions, uploading missing persons data, unidentified bodies on CCTNS, community policing, passport verification and such aspects of investigation, technology adoption, community engagement, etc. Are taken into consideration in awarding the ranking.

The initial shortlisting is done on the basis of parameters – crime against women, crime against weaker sections, property offences, missing person cases, unidentified found persons cases and unidentified dead bodies cases using the crime data available with the National Crime Records Bureau.

Once shortlisted, the Police Stations are evaluated in two parts.

Part 1 comprising evaluation based on record – crime based and performance based parameters .Crime based parameters include crime prevention, proactive measures, disposal of cases, law and order, etc. & Performance based parameters include action towards crime against women, disposal of old cases, crime against weaker sections, road safety, convictions, malkhana, community reach, etc.

Part 2 comprises survey based assessment – infrastructure assessment, approachability of the personnel, and citizens’ feedback.
