Short film contest on awareness on Cyber crimes held

Hyderabad, March 5 (Press media of india) The first Short Film Contest on Awareness on Cyber crimes winners were announced on March 5 at Cyberabad Police Commissionerate. The contest was conducted by SCSC & Cyberabad Police Cyber Crimes wing.

Stephen Raveendra, IPS, Commissioner of Police,  Cyberabad, handed over the prizes to the winners of the competition – three winners – first, second and third prize, one special category and 10 consolation prizes.
Speaking on the occasion, Stephen Raveendra, IPS, said,  “cybercrimes are growing at a higher pace and almost grew by 200%. He said the vulnerable section of the society like women, children and senior citizens are falling victims and these cyber crimes were taking place only because of ignorance and no one is spared from these cyber attacks. If the public does simple checks before providing all the data on telephone calls and clicking links from unknown sources, most of the cybercrimes can be avoided.

He said creating awareness is key to reduction in cybercrimes and as part of the awareness campaign, the winners’ videos will be played in theatres apart from going to colleges and schools in creating awareness about cybercrimes.

DCP Crimes Shingenavar Kalmeshwar said the department is addressing various issues faced by the public and cautioned the public not to fall for risky, high yield returns schemes and not to download doubtful apps indiscriminately and share the data – which may get into the wrong hands. Krishna Yedula, Secretary-General,  SCSC, said Dilsey (DIgital Literacy to Secure Youth sessions) are becoming a big hit with schools and already covered more than 12,000 students on digital literacy. He also explained that on most Saturdays, Doordarshan is telecasting a dial-in program on Cyber Crimes in the mornings, and Cyberabad Police and SCSC cyber security experts are answering public queries,  for the issues faced by the common man.

He said the SCSC is open to conducting Dilsey sessions in any organization premises like hospitals, manufacturing units, factories, housing communities, gated communities, colleges and so on and they can send requests on an email to cybersec@scsc.in or ad@scsc.in. (PMI)
