Hyderabad, “Understanding the pain of the other person and how you can bring smile on his face is the real service we can do”, Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan said while speaking as the chief guest at the Mahasamadhi Centenary Year celebrations of Shri Shirdi Sai Baba, organised by Shirdi Sai Global Foundation here on Friday.
“We all do service in our daily life such as holding the hand of a disabled person cross a busy intersection on a road, is the simplest form of service, but it is also a service and for the disabled person it is a great service and we do not realize the amount of gratitude that person has towards you”, the Governor said. If a poor man comes to you for a help, all you need to do is pat him on his back and tell him that you will take care of his need and bring a smile on his face and that is also a service, he said.
“I always tell bureaucrats that power is of two kinds — one is positive and the other is negative. Mostly we try to display negative power of saying ‘No’. We feel saying ‘No’ is an exhibition of power. But saying ‘Yes’ and bring smile is also an exhibition of positive power, which is also a service. Service with smile is all it is about. Service is not only about making large donations and preaching in large congregations”, he added.
“Unfortunately, negativism was dominating the society today. We should all move from negativism to positivism and try to bring smile on the faces of the people and hoped that Shirdi Sai Baba will give us strength to do more service to the humanity”, the Governor said. Whatever Shirdi Sai Baba said 100 years ago stuck in the hearts of people and that is why he is remembered so fondly by all His devotees even though none of us have heard Him or seen Him”, he said. The Governor also appreciated the efforts of Dr Satpathy in taking forward the teachings Shirdi Saibaba forward, by his service to the society.
Earlier, the Governor released a book titled “Sai Sakham” penned by Dr C.B. Satpathy and translated into Telugu.
