Hyderabad, June 28 (PMI): Shia Organizations urged the Telangana State Government to initiate the restoration and repair work of Ashoorkhans, surrounding roads and street lights well before the arrival of the holy month of Muharram.
In a memorandum to the state government the Shia Development Organisation Telangana State (SDOTS) and Anjuman Labaik Ya Hussain demanded the State Government to convene a high level meeting with the community representatives to initiate the allocation of funds for the repair and restoration of Ashoorkhanas, arrangements of street lights and reconstruction of roads leading to Ashoorkhanas and its surroundings.
The memorandum further stated that works taken up at nick of the time in a hurry does not sustain and lead to wastage of time, money and efforts.
The shia Organisation further demanded the State Government to make public the funds allocated by the Waqf Board and the GHMC to properly monitor and have transparency of the works done. It has been noticed in the past that certain Ashoorkhanas name was mentioned twice in the GHMC list and in some case work has not been taken up inspite of funds being allocated for it. Moreover the GHMC is not mentioning the municipal number or the door number while allocation of funds leading to malpractice and corruption. If need all the works taken up by the Government should be monitored by the vigilance department and all the complaints should be investigated by CBCID.
Syed Laiq Ali, senior leader of TRS party and former secretary of minority wing who was part of the representation and who is also the president of the above two organisations said that Chief Minister K. Chandra Shekar Rao and Home Minister Syed Mahmood Ali have full respect towards the mourning days of Muharram and the Welfare of the Shia Community in the Telangana State. The ruling TRS government had extended its full cooperation since it came to power and will continue to do the same in the future.
