Hyderabad, May 25,(Shoukat-PMI) in a significant step towards promoting behavioral reform and ensuring public safety, SHE Teams of the Women Safety Wing, Hyderabad, conducted a counselling session for individuals involved in harassment incidents reported between January and April 2025. The initiative was organized in collaboration with Manojagruthi NGO.

A total of 304 people took part in the session, including 289 individuals apprehended for acts of harassment—271 adults and 18 minors—along with 15 parents or guardians of the minors. The event was aimed at sensitizing participants about the legal and social consequences of harassment and encouraging respectful conduct in public spaces.

The counselling was led by a team of professional psychiatrists from Manojagruthi, including Dr. Geetha Challa, Kairi Thrinath Goud, Swathina Shasi, S. Srilatha, and Syed Abeeda Begum, among others. The sessions focused on behavior correction, legal education, and promoting emotional control.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Lavanya NJP, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Women Safety Wing, highlighted the role of alcohol, drugs, and smoking in impairing judgment and encouraging inappropriate behavior. She warned participants about the dangers of negative peer influence and stressed the importance of choosing friends wisely. Dr. Lavanya also shared insights on delayed gratification, narrating a story to illustrate how patience and self-control can lead to long-term success.

Several respondents expressed remorse for their past actions, acknowledging the distress their behavior had caused to their families and loved ones. They thanked SHE Teams for the opportunity to reflect, reform, and change their course for the better.

“This initiative demonstrates SHE Teams’ commitment not just to law enforcement, but also to rehabilitation and community awareness,” said Dr. Lavanya, adding that the goal is to create a safer and more respectful environment for women in Hyderabad.
