Ramagundam Feb 9 (PMI) In view of the forthcoming municipal elections, the Ramagundam Police Commissionerate has imposed Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) to ensure the peaceful conduct of polls.
The restrictions will be in force in the limits of Ramagundam Municipal Corporation, Manchiryal Municipal Corporation, and the municipalities of Peddapalli, Sultanabad, Manthani, Chennur, Katanpally, Bellampally, and Lakshettipet falling under the Peddapalli Zone.
According to Ramagundam Police Commissioner Amber Kishore Jha, Section 163 will be enforced from 5:00 pm on February 9 until the completion of the election process, including counting of votes scheduled on February 13, 2026, till 8:00 am or till declaration of results.
During this period, assembly of more than four persons is strictly prohibited. Authorities warned that strict legal action will be taken against provocative speeches, fraudulent activities, or any behaviour likely to disturb public peace.
The restrictions will not apply to police personnel, forest officials, central forces, Home Guards, and SPOs on duty.
The Police Commissioner stated that processions, rallies, public meetings, and parades are prohibited without prior permission. Carrying sticks, knives, firearms, or any lethal weapons within a one-kilometre radius of polling stations is banned. Permission is mandatory for erecting temporary structures such as shamianas and pandals.
Use of microphones and loudspeakers, broadcasting songs, organizing meetings, mobilizing groups, making provocative speeches, and displaying unauthorised advertisements, placards, or symbols during the election period are strictly prohibited.(pressmediaofindia.com)
