SAVE ALAWA-E-SARTAUQ-E-MUBARAK

PROTECTION OF ALAWA-E- SARTAUQ -E-MUBARAK IS OUR DUTY

Is the Protection of Alawa-e- Sar -e- Tauq -e- Mubarak Building Not Our Responsibility?

Hyderabad, March 10 (Ali Abbas – PMI): A few concerned youths from the Shia community have raised their voices for the protection of Alawa-e-SarTauq Mubarak. The building surrounding Alawa Sar-Tauq Mubarak, which was registered under the name Dar-ul-Shifa Hospital in the Archaeological records, is said to be 435 years old. It is commonly referred to as Alawa-e- SarTauq -e-Mubarak.

The faithful in Hyderabad visit this sacred site with immense devotion and respect, considering it a revered shrine of the Fourth Imam. In their belief, this place holds the same spiritual significance as Karbala. Every day, elderly devotees organize religious gatherings, including Majlis-e-Aza, Ziarat-e- Imam-e- Hussain (a.s), and other ziarat-e- Masoomeen (a.s) and celebrations, in this historic building.

However, the building tells its own tale—it is deteriorating with each passing day, and there is a fear that it might collapse. Shockingly, no one seems to be concerned, not even those who are benefiting financially from the premises.

It is said that Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah first built the Charminar, then the Badshahi Ashurkhana, followed by the Jama Masjid, and then Dar-ul-Shifa Hospital. This makes it the fourth oldest building in Hyderabad. The truth about who has wronged this historic structure and what has been done to it will eventually come to light.

During the tenure of the Telangana RashtraSamithi (TRS) government, Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) established a Heritage Department in 2017. Except for Charminar, all other historical buildings were included under this department for protection. However, it is shocking to learn that **Dar-ul-Shifa Hospital, a monument from the QutbShahi era, was not included in the Category 1 Heritage List.

Reportedly, a political figure allegedly used their influence to prevent this historical building from being included in the heritage list, possibly to please their associates or on their directives. The truth about this matter will be revealed in due time. Due to pressure from Muslim representatives, it has been placed in Category 2.

It is not out of place to mention here that despite threats from certain anti-social elements, senior journalist Syed Najaf Ali Shoukat has supported the concerns raised by the Shia youth and knocked on the doors of the Telangana government. He has urged Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to include this building in the Category 1 Heritage List and to initiate renovation and restoration efforts.

Syed Najaf Ali Shoukat ( Sr. Journalist ) has appealed to MatamiAnjumans and other mourning organizations, their leaders, members, and the Shia youth to come forward and take responsibility for the protection of the Alawa-e- SarTauq Mubarak Dar-ul-Shifa Hospital building,

He also mentioned that efforts are ongoing to uncover the truth behind this issue. If necessary, legal counsel will be sought. Preliminary investigations have been conducted, and further inquiries will continue to establish the facts. However, what remains undeniable is the dilapidated state of this historical building.

The biggest concern is that shops have been set up on the roadside part of this historic hospital for commercial purposes, a school operates on the upper floors, while an Islamic seminary (madrasa) functions inside, and a portion is being used as a residence.

The most pressing question is: Why and at whose behest was this ancient hospital building removed from the list of archaeological heritage sites? (pressmediaofindia.com).
