Hyderabad, Oct.17 (PMI): Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy on Friday urged the youth, students, public representatives and citizens of Telangana to actively participate in the “Sardar@150 Unity March”, a nationwide campaign launched by ‘Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat)’ to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Addressing a press conference at CGO Towers here at Kavadiguda, the Union Minister emphasized that the youth must take the lead in nation-building activities that reflect the values of selfless service, unity and integrity championed by Sardar Patel. “Without Sardar Patel’s vision and determination, the merger of Hyderabad with the Indian Union would not have been possible. Patel’s had a historic role in uniting India. Sardar@150 Unity March aims to celebrate the Iron Man of India’s ideals of national integration and youth participation”, he noted.
The Sardar@150 Unity March seeks to engage youth across Telangana through padayatras, pledge drives and cultural programmes over the next two months. The initiative aims to foster unity, patriotism and civic responsibility, drawing inspiration from Sardar Patel’s legacy of unifying the nation. The campaign aligns with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to promote ‘Jan Bhagidari’ (public participation) in ‘Rashtranirman’ (nation-building). Under the Viksit Bharat Padyatras – organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports through MY Bharat – youth across the nation will be mobilized to strengthen unity and national pride. The Sardar@150 Unity March forms a key part of this vision, encouraging young citizens to live by the ideals of “Ek Bharat, Atmanirbhar Bharat”.
The digital phase of the campaign began on October 6, 2025, featuring online activities such as social media reel competitions, essay contests, and the Sardar@150 Young Leaders Program Quiz for youth aged 15–29 years. The first phase of the march will take place between October 31 and November 25, 2025, with the district-level padyatras in every parliamentary constituency. Each padyatra will be held over three consecutive days, covering 8 to 10 kilometres per day, ensuring participation from youth across all districts in the country.
