Sankranti Holidays 2026:Telangana & Andhra Pradesh School Dates

Hyderabad’Nov 24 (PMINEWS)Students in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are gearing up for the much-awaited Sankranti holidays, offering a welcome break from academic routines and a chance to celebrate with family.

In Andhra Pradesh, schools will be closed from January 10 to January 18, 2026, giving students a total of 9 days off, with classes resuming on January 19, 2026. In Telangana, the government is expected to announce similar dates, likely from January 10 to January 15, 2026, providing around 6 days of holidays.

The break applies to both government and private schools, allowing students to enjoy the festive season. Additional holidays in both states include January 23 for Vasant Panchami/Saraswati Puja/Subhas Chandra Bose Jayanti and January 26 for Republic Day, offering mid-month relief.

Sankranti, a major festival in Telugu culture, honors Lord Surya and marks the sun’s northward journey. Celebrations span four days:

  • Bhogi – January 14

  • Sankranti – January 15

  • Kanuma – January 16

  • Mukkanuma – January 17
