Hyderabad, March 1 (PMI): Minister for Tourism, Culture and Excise Jupally Krishna Rao said the debris removal and dewatering work in the SLBC tunnel is continuing in full swing, with the rescue team on one side and machinery on the other.
Ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy and Jupally Krishna Rao and Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari reviewed the relief activities underway at the SLBC Tunnel on Saturday.
On the occasion, the rescue team and senior officials were asked about the progress of relief measures, debris removal, and dewatering works.
Later, speaking to the media at the JP Camp Office, Minister Jupally Krishna Rao said that out of a total of 8 people missing, four have already been traced through GPR, excavations are ongoing in the area, and the rescue operations are likely to be completed by Sunday evening.
He said the traces of four more people have been found under the tunnel boring mission.
Jupally Krishna Rao questioned BRS leaders, who claim to have dug 200 km of tunnels as part of the Kaleshwaram project, why they could not complete the SLBC tunnel during their ten-year rule.
“If the SLBC project had been completed then, this incident would not have happened,” he pointed out.
The Minister said the conditions in the tunnel were very critical and said that there was no negligence in the relief measures. (PMI)
