Civil Supplies and Finance Minister E Rajender today expressed anguish at the officials and the company that supplied poor quality e-pass system machines and failed to distribute essential commodities to the people by Dasara. There are complaints that the ration shops failed to make use of the e-pass system to distribute essentials by Dasara festival. He held a review meeting with the officials and pulled them up for not using effective machines to check irregularities. At least now they should check the machines to ensure that people get essentials by Deepavali festival he said. The officials should in advance whether the machines working properly before using them he said.
The government has introduced the e-pass system to enable the people get on time the essential commodities and not to get delayed he expressed ire. He said that the government is not ready to compromise on irregularities in the civil supplies wing which is ought to give essentials to the people without giving room for complaints. Rajender asked the gas dealers to deliver gas to consumers on demand and avoid delay.
He asked to procure fine rice in transparent manner from the farmers and ensure them store in godowns. It was estimated to cost about Rs 8500 cr to procure 27 lakh metric tons of fine rice against the requirement of 1.50 lakh metric tons this year. The minister asked the officials to ensure that the dealers distribute essentials in lambada thandas and remote villages two days in a month.
