Hyderabad;April 19 (PMI) The city, which had been bathed in sunshine all day, was shaken by a storm in the evening..as if the sky had been torn open..with the rain suddenly breaking like thunder in a very short period of time..people’s lives were thrown into chaos. In many places, the strong winds created havoc..trees were uprooted..wires were cut..electricity supply was disrupted..at one place, a transformer exploded..flood water poured onto the roads, causing traffic jams everywhere.

The city, which was sunny all day, was shaken by a storm in the evening..As if the sky had opened..With rain suddenly breaking like thunder in a very short period of time..People’s life was disrupted. The strong winds created havoc in many places..Trees were uprooted..Wires were cut..Power supply was stopped..A transformer exploded in one place..Traffic jams were formed everywhere as flood water poured onto the roads..Motorists saw hell for hours. Low-lying areas were flooded. Delay in relief efforts has further compounded the hardships of the people. Feeders tripped.. Delay in power restoration has forced the city residents to remain vigilant. 8.5 cm rainfall was recorded in Bandlaguda

A sudden gale has lashed the metropolis. Heavy rain and gusty winds have created havoc. From morning to 5 pm, the city people were suffocated by the sun and heat. As the weather suddenly cooled down, before they could catch their breath.. the wind and rain created havoc. Heavy rain fell with strong gusty winds. Power supply was disrupted as trees fell in places due to the force of the gusty winds. Heavy rain and power outages have caused traffic jams in many parts of the city. Vehicles were stranded for kilometers on the roads, creating dire conditions. Hail rain fell along with gusty winds in many places.

48 trees were uprooted in several places due to strong winds. Baldia and Hydra have taken up work to remove them. Power supply was disrupted for hours in many places as trees fell on electricity poles, transformers and current wires. The city residents faced severe difficulties due to rain on one hand and lack of power on the other. However, the city residents expressed their anger at the electricity staff as supply was stopped even for minor reasons.

Many complaints were received by SPDCL as power was cut off for about three to four hours in places where there was only normal rain. People faced severe difficulties due to power cuts in several places due to rain. Staff made efforts to restore power. Officials said that it may take some time for power to be restored as heavy trees fell in some places.

Heavy rain lashed several areas in Greater Hyderabad. Bandlaguda recorded the highest rainfall of 8.5 cm. Bahadurpura received 7.8 centimeters, Charminar 7.6, Nampally 7, Bandlaguda Mekala Mandi Community Hall 7, Charminar Malakpet Circle 6.6, Chandrayangutta 6.1 centimeters of rainfall, the Meteorological Department said.

Power supply was stopped in many areas for hours. Mainly in many areas, trees fell on electric poles, and wires were cut in some places, which caused severe delay in restoration. A huge tree fell on the road in Nampally Red Hills and fell on a transformer. Due to this, it suddenly exploded. Two electricity poles were broken after a tree fell in Langar House Bapunagar Colony..A tree fell across the road at Langar House Bapunagar due to the wind and the pole bent after it fell on the electric wires. Power supply was disrupted for hours in Motilal Nagar, Badangpet, Triveni Nagar in Saroornagar, Malakpet, Green Hills, Sai Enclave Habsiguda, Bazaarghat and other places due to flexi and tree branches falling on the feeders.

Approximately 441 feeders were tripped across the city. Power supply was disrupted after a tree fell on the Jayanagar feeder in Saidabad Colony. Power supply was disrupted for more than 4 hours in areas like Malakpet, Indira Park, Mughalpura, Yakutpura, Rajendranagar, Begumpet, Sheikhpet, Attapur, Saidabad, Ameerpet, Upparapally, Kundanbagh, Chanchalguda, Balkampet, Old Malakpet, Rasulpura and others.

There was a severe delay in the restoration of electricity in many areas.
There was a huge traffic jam at major junctions due to trees falling on the roads. Trees fell in Saroornagar, Vijayanagar Colony, Kukatpally, Darussalam, High Court, BN Reddy Nagar, Falaknagar, Sultanbazar, Kacheguda, Sindhi Colony, Methodist Colony, Langar House and other areas. This caused severe disruption to traffic on major roads. A tree fell on the road in front of PG Law College in Basheerbagh, disrupting traffic. Trees fell on the road leading from Tank Bund to Lower Tank Bund, causing heavy traffic jams.

The transformer exploded suddenly. Trees were uprooted in Bapu Nagar in Langar House and Motilal Nagar in Begumpet. On the other hand, traffic was paralyzed in almost all parts of the city due to heavy waterlogging on the roads.

Employees who had to go home for kilometers were stuck in traffic for hours. Vehicles were heavily stalled in Abids, MJ Market, Khairatabad, Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, Qutubullapur, Medchal, Hayatnagar, Vanasthalipuram, LB Nagar, Dilsukhnagar and many parts of Old Basti. The storm caused power lines to be snapped, poles toppled, feeders to trip, and power supply to be disrupted due to delays in restoration and relief efforts.

Rain forecast for another two days
Light to moderate rains with thunder, lightning and gusty winds are likely to occur at many places in the Greater Hyderabad for the next two days, officials from the Hyderabad Meteorological Centre said.(pressmediaofindia.com)
