RAHUL GANDHI MUST ANSWER FOR BETRAYING TELANGANA’S AUTO DRIVERS: KTR

Hyderabad, Oct 27 (PMI): Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR)  has launched a scathing attack on Rahul Gandhi and the Congress government, accusing them of betraying Telangana’s auto drivers by failing to deliver on key promises made during the 2023 Assembly elections.

As part of a unique outreach programme on Monday, all senior BRS leaders travelled in auto-rickshaws across Hyderabad to interact with drivers and understand their concerns. KTR himself travelled in an auto from Jubilee Hills Checkpost to Telangana Bhavan, where he spoke with Mashrat Ali**, an auto driver who had earlier driven Rahul Gandhi during his campaign visit two years ago. KTR recalled that Rahul Gandhi had personally met and travelled with auto drivers in 2023, promising to set up an Auto Drivers’ Welfare Board  and provide ₹12,000 annual financial assistance** to every driver. “Two years later, none of those promises have been fulfilled,” KTR charged. In a poignant revelation, KTR said that Mashrat Ali—once the proud owner of two autos—has now been forced to sell both due to financial distress. “Today, he rents an auto for ₹400 a day just to survive. He told me, Sir, I was an owner then, now I’m a driver. I used to earn ₹2,500 a day; now I barely make ₹1,000. Congress betrayed us. They promised support but gave nothing.’*”

Calling the situation a symbol of the Congress government’s failure, KTR said, “Rahul Gandhi must wake up from his deep slumber. He promised to deliver within 100 days — it’s been two years. Auto drivers are losing their livelihoods, and 161 have already taken their own lives due to neglect.”

He further accused the Congress of oral hypocrisy,” saying, “Rahul Gandhi talks about compassion and justice, but his government practices betrayal. When you can’t honour your word to poor auto drivers, you lose the right to speak about justice.”

The man who once carried Rahul Gandhi in his auto is now crushed by the same Congress government. This isn’t just hypocrisy — it’s betrayal,” KTR declared.

He demanded that Rahul Gandhi take moral responsibility and direct his government to immediately implement the promised Auto Drivers’ Welfare Board** and ₹12,000 annual assistance.

Words don’t feed families — promises must be honoured. Telangana’s auto drivers deserve respect and relief, not deceit, KTR said, vowing that the BRS will continue to raise its voice until justice is delivered. (PMI).
