Rachakonda Police Raided Godown in Brahmanapally and Seized Duplicate Seeds Items

Hyderabad June 09 (PMI): Rachakonda Police has busted another racket of spurious seed on a tip information given by Cyberabad Special Operations Team and seized the items and machinery worth 50 lakhs rupees. The sleuths of special operations teams L. B. Nagar along with Hayathnagar Police and agriculture department officials conducted a joint surprise raid at a go down located on the outskirts of Brahmanapally under Hayathnagar Police station limits and nabbed four persons while they were mixing and packing the spurious cotton seed in order to sell the same to the gullible farmers.

Today at morning hours, while the accused persons Chinthala Venkateshwarlu, Putta Venkata Ramana,  Nomula Venkanna and Vagalagaani Ashok were mixing and packing the spurious cotton seed in their godown , the Police and officials of the agricultural department have raided and caught them in possession of spurious cotton seed along with its mixing & processing equipment.

All the accused persons together started mixing the spurious seed with red colour seed mixing chemical and packed the same in labelled covers of other brands including SARPANCH GOLD so as to sell the seed to the gullible farmers by inducing them that they are selling the branded seed at the lower price than the Government approved seed.  Recently i.e. about three days ago, the accused persons already sold the spurious seed packets to some of the innocent farmers in the surrounding area of Shadnagar town. Actual price of the branded and Government approved seed packet weighing (450) grams is Rs.730/-.  But, the accused persons sell the spurious seed packet of same quantity @ Rs.500/- and thereby cheated the gullible farmers.

During the raid, police and agriculture officials seized around 2.8 tonnes of tons of spurious cotton seed along with its processing and packing equipment and 500 empty labelled covers of Billa and Pavani brands from their possession. In fact, the accused persons do not have any license under Seed Act 1966 to manufacture or sell the cotton seed.
