Comprehensive Safety Measures Planned for Bibi Ka Alam Procession

High-Level Meeting Held to Ensure Smooth Conduct of Muharram Processions

Hyderabad, June 24 (PMI): Hyderabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand assured full support from the city police for mourners, participants in matam, and devotees during the Muharram observance, which begins on June 27, 2025, and extends through Ashura. Speaking at a high-level review meeting at the Salar Jung Museum, Commissioner Anand emphasized the need for enhanced arrangements compared to previous years to ensure a peaceful and organized commemoration.

Comprehensive Security Measures for Muharram

The Commissioner revealed that a detailed security plan has been prepared for the Bibi Ka Alam procession on Ashura. The procession will be monitored through extensive CCTV coverage, connected to the Command and Control Center in Banjara Hills. Police platoons, the Rapid Action Force (RAF), SHE Teams, and crime units will be deployed along the procession route to maintain order and safety.

The Bibi Ka Alam procession will begin at Dabirpura and pass through key landmarks, including Ittebar Chowk, Kotla Alijah, Charminar, Gulzar Houz, Panjashah, Mir Alam Mandi, Purani Haveli, and Darulshifa, before concluding at Masjid-e-Ilahi in Chaderghat. The event attracts thousands of participants, requiring meticulous planning to ensure public safety and convenience.

Special Attention to the Elephant

Commissioner Anand highlighted special measures for the elephant participating in the procession, instructing that it be brought to the city days in advance to rest and acclimatize. A veterinary doctor and tranquilizers will be on standby to address any emergencies. Strict crowd management measures will be implemented around the elephant to ensure its safety and movement.

Addressing Concerns of the Shia Community

During the meeting, representatives of the Shia community raised several concerns regarding infrastructure and logistics, which the respective departments pledged to resolve promptly. The Commissioner emphasized the importance of public awareness and cooperation to uphold the sanctity of the procession.

Civic Coordination and Emergency Preparedness

The GHMC, electricity, and waterworks departments were instructed to ensure uninterrupted services during the procession. Fire and medical services will remain on standby for emergencies. A comprehensive traffic diversion plan has been devised to ensure smooth vehicular movement along the procession route, and parking arrangements will be made for participants to minimize public inconvenience.

Call for Collaboration

Commissioner Anand concluded the meeting by appealing for cooperation from all stakeholders, ensuring a peaceful and well-managed Muharram observance. He reaffirmed the commitment of the police and civic authorities to address logistical, security, and public convenience challenges.

Prominent Shia representatives included Maulana Haider Agha, Maulana Waheeduddin Haider Jafari ( Akhbari), Najaf Ali Shaukat (President, Markazi Anjuman Anjuman Matami Grohan), and Mujtaba Mousavi.
