Proposal to Divide Three Police Commissionerates into 12 Zones: DGP Shivadhar Reddy

Hyderabad, December 28 (Shoukat-PMI): In view of the reorganisation of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), key structural changes are also being proposed in the Telangana Police Department. As part of the proposal, the Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda police commissionerates will be reorganised into a total of 12 zones.

A high-level meeting was held at the State Police Headquarters under the supervision of Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) B. Shivadhar Reddy. During the meeting, it was discussed that following the recent formation of multiple zones under GHMC, corresponding territorial reorganisation is being planned within the police department to maintain administrative coordination. The proposal to divide the three commissionerates into 12 zones has been finalised in principle.

According to the proposal, Shamsabad and Rajendranagar zones are likely to be included under the Hyderabad Police Commissionerate. This change would bring the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamsabad within the jurisdiction of the Hyderabad Commissionerate. The Hyderabad Commissionerate would comprise Charminar Zone, Golconda Zone, Khairatabad Zone, Rajendranagar Zone, and Shamsabad Zone.

Major changes are also being proposed in the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate, including the creation of a new Serilingampally Zone. The Serilingampally Zone will cover areas from Moinabad to Patancheru. Madhapur will be merged into the Kukatpally Zone, while the Qutbullapur Zone will be established as a separate zone.

Under the proposal, the Rachakonda Police Commissionerate will consist of LB Nagar Zone, Malkajgiri Zone, and Uppal Zone. Additionally, Yadadri district will be placed under the jurisdiction of a District Superintendent of Police (SP).

Furthermore, the Maheshwaram Zone, Shadnagar, and Chevella areas are proposed to be brought under a newly formed Future City Police Commissionerate. (pressmediaofindia.com)
