Hyderabad, In a tweet condoling Sridevi’s her death, President Kovind praised her as an “inspiration for other actors” and said she “left millions of fans heartbroken”. Kovind also said his thoughts were with her family and admirers.
Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu condoled her death on Twitter by saying she was “an extremely versatile and talented film star, who acted in Telugu, Hindi and other South Indian languages”.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief on the sudden demise of film actor Sridevi. The PM said, “Saddened by the untimely demise of noted actor Sridevi. She was a veteran of the film industry, whose long career included diverse roles and memorable performances. My thoughts are with her family and admirers in this hour of grief. May her soul rest in peace”.
Union Home minister Rajnath Singh tweeted his condolences over the actor’s death, saying her death was “a big loss to the film industry”. “Anguished to learn of the sudden demise of veteran film actress, Rajnath said Sridevi had a long and successful career in the film industry with several remarkable performances. Her demise is a big loss to the film industry. My thoughts are with her family and fans. May her soul rest in peace,” Rajnath Singh said in the tweet. Former actor and Union Minister Smriti Irani commended her as a “powerhouse of acting” and said her success came “to a sudden end”.
Sorrowing KCR remembers Sridevi
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has expressed his deep sorrow over the sudden demise of Sridevi. He said Sridevi, who acted in Telugu, Hindi and several other Indian languages films had captivated the cine-goers with her beauty, dancing, acting skills and had earned countless fans. It is unfortunate that Sridevi, who was still active in the film industry, died at a young age. The CM said in her death, the Indian film industry has a void and left Telugu film industry in sorrow. He said several characters she depicted in many films would be remembered forever. The CM has conveyed his condolences to the members of the bereaved family.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said, “As a multi-lingual actress, especially for the Telugus, Sridevi became the most favourite heroine. She remains a proud actress of India with her unparalleled acting skills.”
BJP leader and former Union minister Bandaru Dattatraya was deeply saddened on knowing about the untimely demise of the legendary actress Sridevi. “Her memorable performances will live in our hearts forever. I pray God to give strength to her family members and my heartfelt condolences to Sridevi fans. May her soul rest in peace”.
Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh Assembly and YSR Congress Party Chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has said, timeless beauty Sridevi’s untimely death has left the entire nation in shock grief. He called it as “a loss to the Indian film industry and film lovers as well as generations of film goers of the country”, his party’s Twitter handle said, adding Sridevi rode the film industry like a colossus with her charm, talent and agility.”
