Hyderabad, June 1 (PMI): The District Election Officer and GHMC Commissioner Ronald Ross today said that all arrangements had been made for the conduct of the counting of votes in Hyderabad district.
He held a press conference at Nizam’s College on Saturday along with the returning officers of Hyderabad and Secunderabad parliamentary constituencies on the arrangements for the counting of votes.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that The counting of votes for Hyderabad and Secunderabad parliamentary constituencies and Secunderabad cantonment assembly constituency by-election would be taken up on June 4,2024.
He said that 16 counting centres had been set up in 13 locations in the district and added that For the counting of votes, 20 tables had been set up in Jubilee Hills assembly segment and 14 tables in other assembly segments. “The counting of votes will be completed with the highest number of 24 rounds in Yakatpura assembly segment and the lowest at 15 rounds in Charminar assembly segment,” he said .
He clarified that no items or mobile phones would be allowed inside the counting centres and added that The counting process would begin at 8 am and the counting of the postal ballot would be done first. He said that tight three-tier security arrangements had been made at the counting centres.
“The counting staff will be randomised in the presence of observes between 5:30 am and 6 pm on June 4 and will be allocated table-wise,” he said .
He also said that the Central Election Commission had allocated one observer for each assembly segment and added that There would be two micro-observers at the observer table while stating that at each counting table there will be one counting supervisor, a counting assistant and a micro-observer.
Ross said that The strong rooms would be opened on the morning of The 4th in the presence of the agents of political parties.
“The counting of the postal ballot votes will be held in a separate hall at three assembly segment centres. The counting of the postal ballot votes for Hyderabad parliamentary constituency will be held at the Charminar assembly segment counting centre set up at Kamala Nehru Women’s Polytechnic College at Nampally Exhibition Grounds and the Secunderabad assembly segment vote counting centre set up at Osmania University Centre of prof. Ram Reddy for Distance Education in connection with Secunderabad parliamentary constituency. The counting of votes for the Secunderabad Cantonment Assembly by-election will be held at the CSIIT, Wesley College in Secunderabad,” he said .
He also said that The counting of EVM votes for the remaining assembly constituencies, where there is no counting of the postal ballot votes, would begin at 8 am and added that The counting of EVM votes would begin at 8.30 am in the constituencies where the postal ballots were cast. He said that Five VVPATs would be randomly selected in the presence of an observer and the polling station slips will be counted.
“Around 1,200 counting personnel and more than 1,000 other staff have been deployed for the counting of votes in the district. After the completion of each round, data will be recorded on the Encore app and an official communication room, media centre and public communication room will be set up at each counting centre,” he said .
Ronald Ross said that steps had been taken to ensure that the counting of votes was conducted smoothly.
Hyderabad District Collector and Returning Officer Anudeep Durisetty, Hyderabad Additional Collector and Secunderabad Returning Officer Hemant Keshav Patil, District Election Commissioner Alivelu Mangatayaru and Hyderabad RDO Mahipal Reddy were present on the occasion. (PMI)
